PhD in Art and Design (unanimously with honours) from FBAUP – Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto – Portugal (2015) with a Certificate of Merit for having obtained the best classification of the 3rd Cycle Course in Art and Design in the 2014/2015 academic period. Master in Design from PUC-Rio – Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (2001) and graduated in Arts Degree (1984) and Visual Communication (1980) also from PUC-Rio. My academic research permeates gender relations and issues related to representation and the construction and deconstruction of images. I also investigate popular festivities with masks, whether profane or sacred. I am currently a professor at the Department of Arts & Design at PUC-Rio. I teach subjects related to visual identity, branding, naming, typography, graphic language, graphic production, methodology and project development and subjects related to reading, interpreting and decoding images. I am a researcher member of the research team of the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) of the Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto (ISCAP) belonging to the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP). I am a researcher of the study group GANDHIS – Group of Narrative Art and Story Design, which belongs to Dhis – Laboratory of Story Design of the Department of Arts & Design of PUC-Rio. I am currently researching Rituals with Masks in Portugal and their influences on carnival manifestations in Latin America. I also participate in ID+. ID+ is a multidisciplinary research group that aims to promote excellence in research in Design, Art, Media and Culture, focusing on possible intersections with science and innovation.
