Helena Lopes was a fellow of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and of the Socrates programme, besides having collaborated in a transdisciplinary research project on Utopian Studies evaluated by FCT with “Excellent”. In the fields of Intermediality, Multimodality, Film Studies and Visual Culture, she has published chapters in essay collections, namely Relational Designs in Literature and the Arts. Page and Stage, Canvas and Screen (2012), published by Rodopi, and in several scholarly journals, most recently about Period Drama. She has also collaborated in national cultural newspapers with commercial circulation and introduced numerous Portuguese artists in cultural events. Her research and cultural promotion practices have been informed by her teaching experience of English Applied to Specific Purposes, with emphasis on Business English, at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.
