Ana Margarida Silva, researcher at the Center for Intercultural Studies, represents Portugal in the “country profile” of the COST Action CA21125 MARGISTAR platform, through her research and doctoral projects in the area of Cultural Studies with a focus on the cultural territory of Serra da Estrela.
Highlights include the publications “The Role of Creative Industries in the Empowerment of Marginalized Mountain Communities: A Case Study of Aldeias de Montanha, Portugal” and “Serra da Estrela Cheese: A Pilar of Culture, Heritage, and the Economy in Portugal’s Mountain Regions”.
MARGISTAR is a COST Action that reflects collaboratively on interrelationships in mountain areas, identifying a series of natural, environmental, social, economic and political challenges. It stands out for its use of a multi/inter and transdisciplinary approach, thus supporting the European Union’s efforts towards inclusive, competitive and sustainable economies and societies.
