By invitation of the international network “Cultural Studies: A Global History”, in which she represents the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) of ISCAP-P.PORTO, researcher and CEI director Clara Sarmento presented the paper “Doing Cultural Studies in intersectional peripheries: An experience at the Polytechnic University of Porto” at the “Stuart Hall: Positions and Trajectories International Conference’, which took place at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, between 31 October and 3 November.
The paper described the research and teaching experience in Cultural Studies at ISCAP-P.PORTO’s Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI), namely in the MA in Intercultural Studies for Business, the design of the PhD in Intercultural Studies for Innovation and the StreetArtCEI project. The University of Birmingham is the birthplace of Cultural Studies, founded at the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies by Hoggart, Williams and Hall, among others, so this representation of CEI and ISCAP-P.PORTO is particularly significant.
