Developing a New Methodology to Empower Children in Digital WellbeIng and Critical ThiNkinG (2020-1-ES01-KA201-082232), in which the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) of ISCAP-P. PORTO participated in, in a consortium that also includes the Mapfre Foundation (Spain), Ministry of the Interior (Spain), Stiftung Digitale Chancen (Germany) and Asociación para el fomento del uso saludable de las TIC (Spain), was distinguished as a good practice to be publicised on the European Commission’s European School Education Platform:
The ENDING project empowers children in digital wellbeing and critical thinking, using peer-learning strategies to promote positive use of ICT and reduce early school leaving. The ENDING project aimed to promote the good use of ICT and identify relevant and age-appropriate sources of information for pupils and their teachers. It also focused on encouraging positive relationships between peers, critical thinking, awareness of existing risks and respect for others. The five concrete areas covered within the project were: a) ICT abuse, health and wellbeing; b) cyberbullying and safety; c) misuse of ICT; d) disinformation and critical thinking; e) the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The project developed a series of publications for different audiences: educators, families and students. These three guides explain about the risks that adolescents face when using ICT, how to identify issues related to the misuse of ICT, and proposed solutions. The publications are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Over 250 students participated in the project’s workshops in Spain and Portugal, while the various multiplier events engaged over 300 participants in total.
