Luísa Benvinda Álvares has a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures – Portuguese/French variant, from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. She completed the Pedagogical Aptitude and Scientific Capacity Tests in the area of 19th century French Literature at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, and obtained the title of Specialist in the area of Foreign Languages and Literatures – Translation at ISCAP-Politécnico do Porto, with a professional work entitled From text to text: considerations on the practice of literary translation.
She is currently an adjunct professor at ISCAP, where she has taught, since 2004, several curricular units in the areas of Portuguese, Communication and Translation Theories. At the same time, she has been translating literary works by contemporary authors from French into Portuguese, published, among others, by Elsinore, Cavalo de Ferro, Dom Quixote and Casa das Letras.
In addition to languages, literature and translation, her research interests also include migration issues, the integration of migrants and the training of intercultural mediators.
