Sara F. Costa was born in 1987 in the village of Cucujães, Portugal. She has a degree in Oriental Studies from the University of Minho. She holds a Master’s in Intercultural Studies: Portuguese/Chinese, awarded by the University of Minho in partnership with the Tianjin Foreign Studies University, China. She has a specialist title in International Relations from the Nova University of Lisbon – FCSH. She is a PhD candidate in Portuguese Studies, specializing in Literature at the Open University. In her doctoral thesis, she dedicates herself to the analysis of the translations of Ming dynasty Chinese poetry made by Camilo Pessanha during his stay in Macau.
As an author, she has published to date five books of original poetry that have won several literary awards, as well as a selected and translated anthology of contemporary Chinese poetry “Non-Official Poetics” (Labyrinth Publisher, 2020), and a novel “Grey City” (Labyrinth Publisher, 2024).
She is a member of the board of the international association Asia Pacific Writers & Translators (APWT).
