Fátima Pacheco, a researcher at CEI – Center for Intercultural Studies, coordinated the three-volume book Novos Estudos de Cidadania, published by Petrony, together with a team of academics. Fátima Pacheco is also the author of a chapter in volume II, dedicated to Law and prefaced by Lopes Porto.
This editorial project is led by Isabel Baltazar, a researcher at NOVA FCSH’s Institute of Contemporary History, who leads the interdisciplinary project “Fostering European Citizenship skills: All Together now!”. The trilogy reflects on Europe and its values, as well as the importance of citizens’ participation in the European project. Volume I has a preface by Guilherme d`Oliveira Martins, and volume III is prefaced by António Nóvoa, representatives of Portuguese academia.
Volume I focuses on the specificity of European culture, based on diversity and complementarity. Volume II presents a series of reflections on the future of the European Union, in the context of the exercise of citizenship. Finally, Volume III focuses on education for citizenship, taking into account the European dimension of education.
