On 11 and 12 July 2024, ISCAP-P.PORTO hosted the 3rd Congress of the National Network of Cultural Studies (RNEC), organised by the Centre for Intercultural Studies (CEI) and this year under the theme “Cultural Studies – Inter-Multi-Trans-Pan-Anti-In-Disciplinary Studies”.
The congress offered an in-depth discussion of the multiple and interdisciplinary dimensions of Cultural Studies and brought together 75 participants of the most diverse nationalities from 19 national and international institutions and research centres.
During the two-day event, participants were able to attend various plenary sessions and thematic panels that addressed topics such as decolonisation, feminisms, media and communication, culture and creativity and many other areas relevant to contemporary Cultural Studies. The programme included presentations, panels and discussions that highlighted the importance and vitality of this discipline in the current academic context. During the Congress, there was also the annual meeting of the representatives of the institutions that make up RNEC (including P.PORTO, represented by the CEI board) as well as the launch of the proceedings of the II RNEC Congress, edited by the University of the Algarve, which next year will be the responsibility of ISCAP-P.PORTO’s Centre for Intercultural Studies.
