The Centre for Intercultural Studies invites the academic community to attend the workshop and masterclass led by Dr. Aristi Trendel, Associate Professor (HDR) at Université de Le Mans, France.
Masterclass: “Transculturality in Literature”
Date: 8 January 2025
Time: 11:30 AM
Location: ISCAP-P.PORTO, Room 335
This lecture class introduces students to the concept of transculturality and to transcultural literary studies that have been gaining ground in the 21 st century. Teju Cole’s erudite novel Open City (2011) will be discussed as a piece of transcultural literature that involves philosophical nomadism and issues of mobility. Cole’s narrative featuring ideas, debates, interrogations, issues, and theories of our times to such a comprehensive extent shapes the nomadic subject and its transcultural dimension.
