Abstract

As a way of ensuring sustainable development at a global level, the United Nations, through the 2030 Agenda, defined 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their implementation must be promoted in each country, and municipalities have an essential contribution. With the aim of understanding the current situation of SDG implementation in Portuguese municipalities, a qualitative study was carried out – based on a case study – which was implemented in two phases: conducting interviews and document analysis. Within the scope of this study, the Municipality of Soure was selected for paying special attention to demography, digital transition, climate transition and cohesion and competitiveness. Based on the study developed, it appears that SDG 1 – Combating Poverty, SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 6 – Drinking Water and Sanitation have already been achieved.
