The Journal of Business and Legal Sciences (RCEJ) is an open-access, peer-reviewed international journal that provides a platform for critical reflection and debate on current issues and contemporary challenges in the world of work.

RCEJ adopts a multi-and interdisciplinary approach to explore contemporary challenges that affect individuals, organisations, and society - particularly within the scope of the social sciences.

This journal seeks to promote intersectional and critical perspectives on social and organisational dynamics across the public sector, business, and the social and solidarity economy. It welcomes contributions that analyse solutions, strategies, and intervention models aimed at producing situated, critical knowledge in a global framework of interdependence.

We encourage submissions that address the evolving challenges in labour relations. Submissions should situate their analysis within a broader socio-political and economic context - particularly one characterised by growing uncertainty, structural change, and global interdependence.

Relevant topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • Regulatory Mechanisms: What role do regulatory mechanisms play in shaping organisational structures, behaviours, and labour practices across different sectors? How do legal, fiscal, and institutional frameworks influence compliance, innovation, or resistance within organisations - especially in contexts of rapid economic, technological, and environmental change? What examples exist of regulatory interventions that have effectively promoted fairness, transparency, and sustainability in organisational governance?
  • Structural Inequalities and Labour Market Segregation: How do do historical legacies of discrimination - class, race, gender, age, and other social divisions - influence contemporary labour market structures and the access to opportunities? Are there any policies and interventions have successfully addressed these inequities? How can structural inequality be critically analysed through intersectional and transdisciplinary lenses?
  • Professions and Skills: How are evolving skill demands and shifting professional boundaries reshaping the labour market? In what ways are changes in required competencies—driven by digitalisation, green transitions, or economic restructuring—impacting employment opportunities and career trajectories? What roles do professional associations, educational institutions, and training programs play in preparing the workforce for these transitions? What policies and interventions have proven effective in ensuring inclusive access to skills development and professional advancement?
  • Legal and Tax Frameworks: How do legal and fiscal frameworks shape labour markets, organisational behaviour, and socio-economic dynamics? In what ways do tax policies, labour laws, and social protection systems support—or hinder—equity, job security, and sustainable development? How are these frameworks evolving in response to global challenges such as economic crises, digitalisation, climate change, and demographic shifts? What role do legal and fiscal instruments play in regulating emerging forms of work, such as platform-based labour or transnational employment? What innovative or context-sensitive approaches have proven effective in promoting fairness, accountability, and resilience through legal and fiscal policy?
  • Digital Transformations: How are digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and data-driven technologies reshaping work, organisational practices, and individual well-being? In what ways do these transformations intersect with ecological transitions, and how do they influence market dynamics, employment conditions, professional identities, and access to opportunities? What are the social, ethical, and political implications of algorithmic management, surveillance, platform labour, and automation? How can organisations, policymakers, and civil society ensure that digital transitions are inclusive, equitable, and supportive of human development?
  • Management Practices: In what ways are managerial approaches evolving in response to digitalisation, hybrid work models, ecological transitions, and shifting socio-economic conditions? How are organisations developing their activities and creating competitive advantages in an increasingly global context of constant change? How do contemporary management practices influence work organisation, employee well-being, and power dynamics within the workplace?  How do practices, such as performance management, decision-making processes, participatory governance, or algorithmic control are evolving and affect inclusion, autonomy, and professional development? What alternative or innovative practices are emerging that promote more democratic, sustainable, and human-centred forms of management?
  • Human Resource Development: How is human resource development evolving in response to technological change, demographic shifts, and global socio-economic challenges? In what ways do training, upskilling, and talent management strategies contribute to - or inhibit - equity, inclusion, and long-term employability across diverse social groups? What tensions exist between market-driven approaches to skills development and more holistic, human-centred visions of professional growth? What innovative models of HRD are emerging that align with sustainable development goals and promote resilience, adaptability, and social justice in the workplace? How are organisations adapting their human resource strategies to respond to the changing economic, social, environmental and cultural landscapes they are increasingly confronted with?

We invite scholars, researchers, and practitioners to contribute to the upcoming issue of RCEJ with original articles that critically engage with these topics, propose innovative models, and foster interdisciplinary dialogue.
