Abstract

Emotional Intelligence and Quality of Work Life are two variables that have been widely studied individually and together, however the number of studies that analyze their relationships with each generation and how this can influence their ways of being and thinking within an organization are still scarce. Our goal is to analyze emotional intelligence in different generations and the impact it has on the QWL of everyone. To measure EI, we used the Emotions Assessment Scale (EIES) developed by Schutte, Malouff, Hall, Haggerty, Cooper, Golden and Dornheim in 1998, translated and validated by Vicente (2014). To assess the QWL, we used the Quality of Work Life Scale developed by Rueda et al, in 2013, which was based on the eight dimensions of the 1973 Walton Model. The sample of this study consists of 316 participants, distributed, not equally, by the four generations under study. It was verified that the dimensions of the emotional Intelligence Scale are statistically significant in relation to the dimensions of the Quality of Work Life Scale. Besides, all these correlations are positive and influence each other, whenever one variable increases, the other increases too.
